Just some of my favourite costuming moments from the darker side of film. The genius of those 90s style glasses paired with period costuming in Dracula, the simplicity of pastels and sweaters and that haircut on Drew, beautiful 30s structure and tweed fabrics*, THAT prom dress in Carrie, corsets and roses and Christina with blonde hair (big love), more corsets and lace and eighties style gloves on Helena (true perfection Mrs Lovett). These are all also some of my favourite movies (except Scream…. Can’t really take that one. Except Drew). Other favourites include The Craft, A Clockwork Orange, Interview with a Vampire, Perfume, Kate Beckinsale in Underworld, Nicole Kidman in Practical Magic, and Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice and Dracula and Heathers and The Crucible.
Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year, despite it’s general insignificance in Australia. Time to dress up and play!
*Pan’s Labyrinth is easily one of the most visually impressive movies I have ever seen in my life.
